After finishing their undergraduate education or job training programs, they become an important part of local human resource. It is therefore interesting to explore their transformation process as a mother or a wife through education. A total of 62 immigrant women were included in this study using questionnaire and in-depth interview. The results showed the main demand of information is for work or for assistance in children's homework. The information was obtained in 75 percent of the interviewee via townsmen associations or sororities. Among them, 48 percent of their husbands and 56 percent of their children were actively involved in issue discussion and decision making. Our study suggested in addition to internet and public media, related information aimed for immigrant women should be announced via their most commonly accessed townsmen associations or sororities. Besides, immigrant women tended to respect the opinions from people around. Virtual interpersonal interaction may be a research subject in the future. Based on the fact that almost half of the immigrant women had ever received some kind of job training, the potential demand for such programs should be stressed. |
