腸病毒71型分離株之溫度感受性及其溶斑變化之研究

The Study of the Temperature Sensitivity and the Plaque Polymorphism of EV71 Isolates

腸病毒71型是屬於微小RNA病毒科（Picornaviridae）中腸病毒屬（Enterovirus）之病毒。臨床上會造成小兒手口足症及嚴重之中樞神經病變。1998年在台灣地區造成大流行，有78例個案死亡2000年也有26例死亡。病理特徵是腦炎、肺水腫、肺出血。本次研究分別選用台灣地區導致輕症及重症腸病毒71型之分離株共十四株進行其溫度感受性及溶班型態分析。結果顯示導致重症之分離株有溫度抵抗性之傾向，但病毒生長之溶斑大小與導致臨床症狀之輕重沒有相開。

Enterovirus 71 (EV71) (genus Enterovirus, family Picornaviridae), one of the major causative agents for hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD), may cause severe neurological diseases. In an outbreak of EV71 infection in Taiwan 1998, there were seventy-eight fatal cases, and another outbreak in 2000, there were twenty-six children dead. We performed the temperature sensitivity and the plaque polymorphism studies of EV71 isolates and found that most of isolates from patients with CNS involvement could grow at high temperature (40℃) and the variation of plaque size of virus isolates was not correlated with the severity of disease by EV71.
