Violation of the regulations of a drug addiction treatment community is almost impossible to prevent because of the personality of drug addicts. The number of violations in the community increases with the number of residents. Maintaining the stability of the community is therefore crucial. This retrospective cohort study examined the differences in residents' violations after intervention; a total of 156 cases of drug addiction from the drug addiction therapeutic community of a psychiatric hospital in Taiwan were included. We applied behavioral therapy for the intervention, and the irregularities of the residents were collected by the medical team. The results showed that the fi rst generation exhibited a violation rate of up to 98.03%, and the third generation exhibited a violation rate of at least 85.71%. After controlling for age (p=0.001) and prior heroin use before entering the community (p=0.037), a logistic multiple regression analysis revealed that the generation of gender, age, and prior heroin use before entering the community were not associated with the violation rate. The violation rate exhibited no significant difference among the three generations; this might be because excessive categories of violation were included in the study. |
