With the explosive expansion of the Internet, the flow and exchange of information has become rapid and boundless. This phenomenon has also led to proliferation of online pornography. The easy access to online sexual material has contributed to the general openness toward sexual behavior. However, because correct sexual perception and attitude appear to lag behind this change in public psych, educators are concerned that online pornography is having a negative impact on the society, especially when the Internet is filled with askew sexual material. A survey of pornographic websites viewers was conducted during this research. The survey reveals that the more pornographic material one’s exposed to, the more askew sexual outlook one’s becomes. In addition, that person tends to process a flawed view toward women’s own sexual mastery. The survey found that the majority of pornographic websites viewers are single, between 18 and 25 years of age, and have high school or above education. The material found on these websites clearly has an adverse effect on this age group. Due to difficulties in filtering out online pornography, this research concludes that the best way to mitigate the adverse effects of online pornography on young adults is to introduce proper sexual education in the primary and secondary schools. |
