The distance learning in this paper is about the instruction model which through computer network and information transmission, instructors and learners could learn and make two-way communication despite the limitations of time and space. Deliberating from another point of view, do students really benefit from this diverse approach derived from new technology, or it simply brings a difference or authority on information transmission, that is actually the matter we should give a deep through about. Advanced communication technology brings down the isolation of culture and knowledge. On the other hand, it helps o build self awareness on minority groups people find themselves different from each other though mass media. However, the main idea of Integrated Theory of mass media and culture should base on an independent environment of information exchange instead of a one-way thinking that promotes technology determinism, and creates another kind of information manipulation and learning with class differentiation. From the above, this paper explores the following three aspects: 1. To analyze web-based learning and to compare it with traditional media. 2. To think over the instruction model of web-based learning. 3. To self-examine on the public sphere and information control of web-based learning. |
