This thesis examines the schooling conceptions of Antonio Gramsci in his Prison Notebooks, intents to outline a schooling institution appropriate for labour class. The schooling conceptions of Gramsci tie closely with his hegemony and intellectuals theories. Gramsci is concerned with the establishment of intellectual stratum for labour class itself via schooling, because this stratum plays a key role in struggling for hegemony of civic society. Hegemony of labour class is the preconditions acquires sovereign toward new state formation, namely communism. Under the current Capitalism hegemony, Gramsci initiatives 'common school' as a strategy to enlighten consciousness of labour class. Labour class's children can learn general culture as a modern Italy civilian, then translate their attitudes, habits and consciousness into ruling class's in the period of common school. The key element for success of labour class's schooling is 'work'. |
