從音韻學觀點檢視賽德克太魯閣語書寫符號系統

A Phonological Perspective on Orthography in Truku Seediq

行政院原住民族委員會與教育部2005年頒訂原住民族各族書寫符號系統，跨出了原住民語言文字化的一大步。然而，該書寫系統仍存在不少使用上的爭議。因此，本文透過實地的田野調查，檢視(賽德克)太魯閣語目前所使用的書寫符號系統，發現行政院原住民委員會與教育部2005年所頒訂之太魯閣語書寫系統有諸多歧異之處。本文從音韻學觀點，同時參考基督教長老教會太魯閣中會的使用習慣，對現行書寫符號系統作出修正，並提出以下建議：(1)加入喉塞音符號「’」，以上標引號代表之；(2)刪除母音符號o；(3)書寫位於重音節的央元音e；(4)加入ey及ow符號。本文透過整合語言學學術界對太魯閣語的記音模式與太魯閣族人的書寫習慣，對現行書寫符號系統的歧異以及使用上所產生的問題提出建言，期能拋磚引玉，提請各界對台灣原住民現行書寫系統進行全盤性的思考與檢視。

In 2005, the Council of Indigenous Peoples (CIP)； and theMinistry of Education (MOE) in Taiwan presented an orthographicsystem for indigenous peoples, thereby taking a big step towardsthe literation of Formosan languages. However, such anorthographic system is not beyond dispute. Based on my on-sitefieldwork, this paper investigates the orthographic system forTruku Seediq and discusses several discrepancies in the systemproduced by the CIP and the MOE. From a phonologicalperspective, this paper proposes some revisions to the orthographicsystem with reference to the literary customs adopted by TrukuPresbyterians of the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan. The revisionsinclude: (1) addition of the symbol ’ for the glottal stop; (2)deletion of the symbol o; (3) writing down the penultimate stressedschwa e; (4) addition of the symbols ey and ow. This paperintegrates the transcribing system used by linguistic academia forlanguage documentation and the orthographic system used byTruku Seediq elites, and proposes suggestions for the currentorthographic system. It is hoped that this paper will be of use forfurther investigations of the orthographic system in other Formosanlanguages.
