Schistosomiasis prevalence showed a "V" shape change in the water network in northern and eastern regions of Taihu Lakefrom early 18th century to the first half of the 20th century. This change had the direct relationships with completely silted river discharge in eastern of Taihu in the 18th century, massive population loss caused by "Taiping war" which prevented the tension between people and land since Qianlong period, the rural economic depression since the 1920s, the Japanese War of aggression against China and the civil war. |
