In this article, a conceptual framework of classification is firstly developed for quantitative content analysis of the writings of curriculum evaluation in Taiwan. Then, I analyze and review by the classification framework the Taiwan published writings focused on curriculum evaluation, including journal articles, doctor and master degree thesis, and research reports financed by government. According to the results of the content analysis, the man features of curriculum evaluation research in Taiwan are presented as the follows: 1. Most of the researches have been done since 2000, due to the Taiwan grade 1-9 curriculum reform policies. A few of them had been done in 1990’s. 2. The issues related to evaluation definition and its’ importance, developing criterion for judgment and their values foundations, and the processes and methods for implementing evaluation are the popular research topics. 3. Lots of the researches are focused on the CIPP and objective-based evaluation models. However, the empowerment evaluation and the responsive evaluation have recently received more attention. 4. The researches of post-secondary education curriculum evaluation are quiet few. Based on the findings, some prospective ideas for the development of curriculum evaluation research in Taiwan are provided. |
