The purpose of this study was to construct the Attributional Style Questionnaire (ASQ) to assess attributional styles in college students. The ASQ was composed of four subscales, which were internality, stability, globality, and uncontrollability. The ASQ consisted of fourteen events- either affiliation orientation or achievement orientation. They were also organized into positive and negative events. The subjects of this study were 932 college students. The results were as follows:1. Subscale internal consistency reliabilities were satisfactory.2. Factor analysis confirmed the validity of the ASQ constructs.3. Confirmatory factor analysis using the multitrait-multimethod (CFA-MTMM). supported the convergent and discriminant validity of the questionnaire. |
