This present study applied methods of meta-analysis and path analysis to analyze studies from 2001 to 2011 investigating the relationships between job stress, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment among teachers from elementary school through senior high school. The meta-analyses results showed the correlation between job stress and job satisfaction was negative ( r = -.42). the correlation between job stress and organizational commitment was negative ( r = -.31), but the correlation between job satisfaction and organizational commitment was positive ( r= .63). With a path analysis, job satisfaction was the mediator of job stress predicting organization commitment. It meant that the decrease in teachers' job stress would lead to the increase in teachers' job satisfaction, which in turn would improve teachers' organizational commitment. But when teachers' job stress increased, their job satisfaction would decrease and then organizational organization would decrease. According to results, suggestions for researchers and policymakers were indicated in the end. |
