Algebra is the core of mathematics education because it can help students to integrate the mathematics content of school. Spreadsheet is a powerful tool to explore, particularly on algebra. The purpose of this study was to develop an algebra dynamic assessment system (ALDAS). The ALDAS integrated spreadsheets into algebra learning process for 6th graders. Thirty-three participants were assigned to the experimental group and the other twenty-six were the control group. The experimental group worked on algebra with spreadsheet. The criterion variable for detecting the effects of ALDAS was the growth slope on mathematics performance in a 3 months interval. The results indicated that students’ mathematical ability were effectively promoted, through the ALDAS. The implications of the results were also discussed. |
