Probing into the Contents of the Professional Growth from the Principals Participating in a Reading Group

本研究目的為(一)瞭解中小學校長參與讀書會的動機;(二)探討中小學校長讀書會的運作內涵;(三)分析中小學校長讀書會的專業發展內涵;根據上述研究目的之結果,提出心得作為推動校長讀書會之參考。研究者以臺北縣晨曦讀書會與活水讀書會為研究對象,訪談參與讀書會活動之校長,並實際參與其中觀察讀書會的運作。歷經三年的參與觀察發現:(1)校長參與讀書會的目的多元,以書會友情感支持專業發展;(2)校長讀書會的運作內涵有共識,自願自費為專業成長;(3)校長讀書會活動多元化,有助於激盪創意思考與活化校務經營等兩項效益。因此,筆者建議教育行政部門應主動協助校長成立讀書會,促使校長更自主開放,展現自信,提升學校教育品質。
英文摘要
The purposes of this study were (a) understanding the motivations of the primary and secondary school principals to participate in the book club; (b) probing the operational contents of the two principals’ book clubs; (c) analyzing the contents of the professional development of the two principals’ book clubs. According to the results, the researcher presented some experiences to help promote the principals’ book clubs. The researcher took Chen-Hsi Book Club and Huo-Shui Book Club which are in Taipei County as sample objects, interviewed some principals, and actuallytook part in the two book clubs to observe their operations.Through the observations for three consecutive years, I discover that (a) the principals had multi-purposes to participate in the book clubs, such as taking books to meet friends, pursuing the support of others’ emotion, getting the professional developments, and so on; (b) the principals in the book clubs had a consensus on the contents of the operation, so theyvoluntarily shared their professional growths at their own expense; and (c) the multi-activities in the book clubs brought creative thinking of the principals and activate their school management. Therefore, I propose the education administrative departments should actively help school principals to establish book clubs, in order to make them more independent and open, show self-confi dence, and promote the quality of school education.
