With the rapidly development of economy and increasing population around the world, the amount of traditional energy, such as petroleum and natural gas, is heavily consumed by humans at present. Because human is facing the shortage of traditional energy, how to develop renewable energy becomes an urgent issue in today’s society. Between different kinds of renewable energy, due to the excellent properties such as high efficiency, low-cost, and environmentally friendly components, electrochemical energy storage technology become a crucial research direction about renewable energy. Among electrochemical energy storage system, such as metal-ion batteries, where the carbon-based electrodes have been widely researched and applied due to their excellent characterizations of capacity, energy density, and powder density. In our paper, we not only attempt to discuss different types of carbon-based electrodes but also mention the governing mechanisms that happen inside electrodes to the metal-ion batteries (Li, Na, and K). |
