The food supply chain, from the primary raw material production to the final consumption, involves various aspects of food safety and hygiene. In light of recurrent food incidents, a task force has been established at the level of the Executive Yuan to integrate and coordinate cross-ministerial food safety efforts. In recent years, through cooperation among central government departments, efforts have been exerted to strengthen source management and enforcement, as well as to enhance responsibilities for self-management by food operators, and to expand the implementation of first-level quality control, traceability systems and HACCP. Additionally, through public-private partnership, mechanisms such as incorporation of professional personnel and third-party verification have been introduced to enhance self-management among food business operators. Simultaneously, collaboration between central and local government has intensified regulatory oversight. Furthermore, mechanisms like nationwide supervision have been implemented to continuously refine the food safety management network. Under these measures, the rate of food inspection compliance in the market has reached over 95% in recent years. Public satisfaction with the Food and Drug Administration in Taiwan in the aspect of food management has increased to 73% in 2021. The government is striving to create a food safety network, and will continue to improve food safety management measures and implement the policy through inter-agency and cross-sector cooperation, government regulation, industry self-discipline, and public participation. |
