This study explores the epidemiological characteristics of ovarian cancer in Taiwan, analyzing the trends in incidence, mortality, and the trend of survival of ovarian cancer in Taiwan from 2001 to 2018. According to Globocan 2020 data, ovarian cancer is the eighth most common cancer among women, with significant variations in incidence across different regions. The study found that the number of new ovarian cancer cases in Taiwan has been increasing annually, with the highest incidence rate observed in Northern Taiwan. The age-standardized incidence rate increased from 6.42 in 2001 to 8.9 in 2018, with an annual increase of approximately 2%. Additionally, the mortality rate has also shown an upward trend, particularly in Central Taiwan. The study indicates that epithelial ovarian cancer, tumor size greater than 5 cm, advanced stage, and abnormal CA-125 levels are major factors associated with poor prognosis. The results of this study can provide a reference for clinicians in formulating screening and treatment strategies for ovarian cancer. However, due to limitations in the number of cases and time constraints, some important issues still require further investigation. |
