The field of social work focusing on disabilities has a rich history in our country, covering a broad spectrum of disabilities and specialized areas. Despite this, there is a noticeable lack of research into the professional performance of social workers in this field. This study investigates the research landscape regarding professional performance in the field of disability social work from January 2010 to January 2024. Through this examination, it aims to provide insights into the current state of professional practice and offer valuable directions for both research and practical application within the domain of disability social work in our nation. This study employed a systematic literature review methodology, conducting searches in databases such as the“Journal of Disability Research”and the“Airiti Library”using keywords like“disability”and“professional”. After meticulous screening to remove duplicates and articles lacking electronic access, and subsequent critical evaluation, five relevant articles meeting the study’s criteria were selected for analysis. The professional performance of social work within the realm of disabilities primarily centers around intellectual disabilities. In this area, key services include case management, resource coordination, family support, and various clinical interventions such as referral, assessment, placement, intervention, and counseling. Effective delivery of these services often necessitates collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, emphasizing the importance of forming cohesive, team-based approaches to social work practice. Future Research Recommendations: 1. Explore social work professional development through the lens of interdisciplinary team collaboration. 2. Foster interdisciplinary research across various domains to enhance understanding and address complex issues. Future Practical Recommendations: 1. Translate relevant expertise in disability social work into practical training modules for professionals. 2. Prioritize disability social work research that aligns with the practical needs of professionals in the field. |
