Consanguineous association refers to the association based on blood ties as a principle and the same family surname or lineage relationship. As the earliest state with Chinese settlements, Melaka has numerous consanguineous associations. After Malaya's independence, Melaka's consanguineous association continued to flourish, forming four types of consanguineous associations, namely ''ancestral temple'' ''clan association'' ''association'' and ''family association'', among which the operation form of ''family association'' retained part of the traditional clan culture. This paper explores the process and mechanism of the inheritance of Chinese clan culture by overseas Chinese of Chan Choo Siah Heng Guan Choh Nam Tan Association in Melaka. The study finds that while changing geographical and social factors affect the inheritance of clan culture, internal members also create and adapt to meet the needs and challenges of the local community and the era. |
