The study of “Li-Ji ‘Shen-Yi’”

中國博深的文化，既抽象又具體地表現為「禮」，各項文化皆是「禮」的具體表現，而「衣制」則是其中之一。「深衣」是流行自先秦時期至漢代的服裝，此種服裝制度，最大特色即是其「被體深邃」，它打破了中國服制向來「上衣」、「下裳」分離的傳統，而是全身相連。本文擬討論深衣之「形制」、「象徵意涵」以及「日常使用」，將以《禮記．深衣》作為討論基礎，援引「深衣」出現於《禮記》其他正文之篇章，以使討論更加全面。

The Chinese culture is profound. We use “rite” to express its essence. The “system of costume” is one of the rites. The form of “shen-yi”(深衣) was popular from “Pre-Qin era”(先秦時代)to “Han Dynasty”(漢代). It represented a complete break with clothing tradition whose form is “upper outer garment” and “lower skirt”. The characteristic of the “shen yi” is “long dress”(被體深邃). This paper is on the basis of “Li-Ji‘Shen-Yi’” (《禮記．深衣》) to investigate the related issues of “shen yi” including its “clothing style”, “symbolic meaning” and “daily using”.
