In second language acquisition, what baffles researchers and teachers alike is why native-like attainment is rare in adult second language learners. For those who come to Taiwan to learn Chinese, adults make up the majority of learners studying at the Chinese Learning Center at universities dotted around Taiwan. Studies on their motivation to learn Chinese have been carried out on a decent scale and have revealed that most of them have medium-strong motivation to learn Chinese. |
