This article aimed to share a weekend math enriched curriculum designed for gifted junior high school students. The theme of this curriculum was Alphamosaic Graphics, which integrated art into geometry. With its variety in contents, the learning needs of students with diverse academic aptitudes could be all addressed in this curriculum. We adopted the 5E Learning Cycle for our curriculum design, which included five stages: engage, explore, explain, elaborate, and evaluate. From the learning process and outcomes, those gifted students revealed their extraordinary creativity as well as the characteristics we often observed in gifted students. In the end, we reflected on our teaching and made suggestions for future practices. |
