With the substantial expansion of the technology and service industries, Taiwan's job market has also undergone structural changes. Today, the main force of Taiwan's distant-water fisheries workforce has shifted from Taiwanese to migrant fishers. With the rise of international human rights awareness in recent years, Taiwan's distant-water fisheries' labor rights have been highly valued by all walks of life. And occupational safety and health are of particular concern. Taiwan's distant-water fisheries are labor-intensive, and fishing operations are hazardous. Based on the industry's credibility and sustainability, we must explore employees' occupational safety and health. Therefore, this study conducted interviews with 32 stakeholders and in-depth research. We analyze labor wages, working hours, common occupational disasters, protection measures for crew occupational disasters, and experience of hazards related to the employment process. The results of this research can not only provide a reference for government units, scholars, or industries. But also serve as the basis for formulating occupational safety and health shield policies in distant-water fisheries. To improve the protection of human rights in Taiwan's distant-water fisheries. |
