The most of the evidence had showed that the positive effects of acute exercise on inhibition-related executive functions. Recently, the meta-analysis revealed that the moderate and positive effect of acute resistance exercise on inhibitory control. Although this issue of the current studies focused on the effects of the exercise intensity on inhibitory control, the training volume is rarely considered. The training volume could be a crucial moderator influence the relationship between acute resistance exercise and inhibition control, and a lack of the study has been explored. However, the purpose of this review was to explored that the effects of acute resistance exercise on inhibitory control from the perspective of training volume. The results revealed that a significant beneficial effects of acute resistance exercise on inhibitory control regardless of training volume and exercise intensity. To date, few studies regarding to effects of acute exercise on inhibition from training volume approach have been explored, and the designs of exercise program are different from each study. Therefore, future study is encouraged to investigate the issue in this field, moreover further understand the relationship between training volume and potential mechanisms underlying the effects of acute exercise on executive control. |
