Taiwanese commonly have good impression to Japan. In recent years many young Taiwanese are willing to work in Japan. Accordingly, owing to occurrence of serious sub-replacement fertility and population ageing, of shortage of young labors, Japan had lowered the threshold for allowing Taiwanese to work in it. Based on such a background, the number of Taiwanese who had awarded working permits in Japan has increased. On the other hand, part of Japanese teachers in Taiwan who are always paying attention to the needs of learners and are showing enthusiasm for Japanese teaching started to provide certain supports to these Taiwanese. However, besides the focus on having students to work on what they have learned based on personal choice on career and working place, whether to have well-trained Taiwanese with Japanese specialty to work in Japan can be regarded a kind of outflow of talents? This study aims at interviewing Japanese teachers, students with age above 15, and who are neither Japanese teachers or students mentioned above on their consciousness on the issue Taiwanese working in Japan. The results are as follows. The three groups of interviewees all have high acceptance rate to Taiwanese working in Japan, though there are some discrepancies on a few jobs such as "law and accounting related jobs". Overall, most interviewees disagreed that Taiwanese to work in Japan is an outflow of talents, with Japanese teachers having the highest disagreement. There are discrepancies on Taiwanese to work in Japan in job "translation and interpretation" in the items of gender, age, and whether has learned Japanese before. And, there are over 70% students who are willing to work in Japan; however, only 30+% Japanese teachers had working experience in Japan, suggesting that Japanese teachers should master more information on the topic Taiwanese working in Japan. |
