This study aims to investigate the influence of cultural capital and reading motivation on Taiwanese college students’ reading behaviors. The approach adopted by this study is the questionnaire survey. The participants in this survey are all college seniors from southern Taiwan universities. Using self-designed questionnaires, 1100 subjects were extracted from these schools as samples, with the result of 1056 valid questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed by Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the following conclusions: First, the cultural capital of college students has positive improving effects on reading motivation, while reading motivation has positive effects on reading behavior. Also, cultural capital has positive effects on one’s reading behavior. Second, the cultural capital of college students can effectively enhance one’s reading behavior through reading motivation. Third, students of military academy have better performance on cultural capital, reading motivation and reading behavior than that of students from typical college. |
