This paper is part of the results of a study of Japanese 'X-Raka' type adjectives and their same root same kanji notation adjective 'X-I'. The subject of study is the usage and meaning of 'kiyoraka' and 'kiyoi'. The results of the study can be summarized as follows. In terms of meaning, the basic meaning of 'kiyoi' is that the water is clear and uncontaminated. From this basic meaning, the word has become a metaphor to describe natural phenomena, things, and the environment that are free from turbidity and dirt, the feeling of being refreshed, and the purity of the human heart. Then, through metaphor, the meaning was extended from the purity of a person's heart to expressing purity and innocence without lust or other worldly stains. 'The word 'kiyoraka' is close in meaning to 'kiyoi'. However, in the same context, 'kiyoi' expresses the essence of water-nature without turbidity or contamination, while 'kiyoraka' has changed its meaning from its basic meaning to express the feeling or emotion of the expresser for the absence of turbidity or contamination by metonymy. However, the Chinese word for 'kiyoraka' or 'kiyoi ' is not always expressed by 'ching<清>' so be careful when teaching Japanese language to Taiwanese." |
