The training and retention of care workers is an important issue in the field of long-term care. This research combines the roles of "participant" and "researcher", and through participatory action research, observes the role of Hongdao Foundation in 2015 undertaking the training and counseling role of the "Caring Practice Instructor" program of the Ministry of Health and Welfare Department of Social and Family Affairs. Additionally, a questionnaire survey was conducted of 44 home service providers and trainees; a deliberate sampling method was used to interview eight trainees and five home service supervisors. Based on this pilot plan experience, the education and on the job training of care attendants in the existing home-based long-term care service units, as well as the long-term care payment standards were considered. Other factors affecting the development of the care worker conditions, career choice and career development of the care workers were also considered. The role positioning of the care practice instructor in Long-term Care 2.0, its role positioning and value with home service units and home rehabilitation units, as well as the impact on family caregivers and long-term care disabled persons are outlined. |
