《西遊記》引用典籍名言考論──以《事林廣記》為中心考察

Citing Classical Documents in Xi You Ji: Using Shi Lin Guang Ji as an Inspection

本文根據《西遊記》第96回提及《事林廣記》書中載錄有「四大部洲」一詞展開討論，旨在處理《西遊記》一書引用典籍名言之相關問題，主要之考察策略有二：一是稽考《西遊記》引用之典籍名言之「原始出處」，一是審視《西遊記》之主要「徵引方式」。根據所論可知，徵引方式概有「有引文而無書名」、「先引書而後引文」及「引文出處多含糊其詞」三種型態；其次，點出小說文本敘事或有時代先後次序不當且極易為人忽略之處；再者，通過《西遊記》引用典籍名言蠡測其資料來源可知，其所引用之資料或許並非出自「原典」，而是同時指向「童蒙之書」及「日用類書」一類通俗之作。此一現象正足以說明，《西遊記》一書的通俗特性與作者之文化水準。

This paper is based on the 96th chapter of Xi You Ji (The Journey to the West), mentioning ''Four Grand Continents'' recorded in Shi Lin Guang Ji (Grand Gleanings of Miscellaneous Matters). It aims to deal with the issues related to the phrases' quotations or sources from Xi You Ji. There are two main inspection strategies: First, searching the sources of the quoted phrases, sentences, and documents. Second, looking into how the author uses them. The tentative conclusion of the study will show that sources that Xi You Ji has cites may not be the original classical texts or documents but are instead children's primers or popular encyclopedias. It might reveal the commonality and popularity of the novel and also the cultural standing of the author.
