This thesis investigates the effect of using picture books as teaching material in advanced Japanese language courses offered to adults in continuing education programs at universities. The author uses Shel Silverstein's book The Missing Piece. Learners' reflections and questionnaire results are analyzed using the KJ Method. The findings are as follows: the impact of picture books on (1) language learning (content recall, content analysis, persuasion skills, and the influence of picture books); on (2) the learners' sensitivities (content feedback, performance, and content response). Results show that the new way of Japanese learning has an impact on the expression of personal values. |
