This paper aims at the Japanese Confucians Goi Ranshu (1697-1762) and his works about I-Ching to discover how he interacts with Chinese Interpretation of I-Ching and what meaning the works have. This paper pointed out that Goi Ranshu’s works about I-Ching are an essential feature highlighting ethical discussion for everyone. He uses Shushigaku as a teaching base, but sometimes had differences between Zhu Xi. Through his writings, we can see that I-Ching plays an essential role in his thought about human nature and his critique of other Confucian schools. Moreover, we can also discover the meaning of his works, which helps us to understand how he recaptured discourse power from other Confucian schools and provided the common basis of East-Asian sprite that above area and country. It is an essential case of the effect of I-Ching in East-Asian Confucianism. |
