External treatment of traditional chinese medicine(TCM) indicates therapies other than oral medication, including topical application of chinese herb, acupuncture, moxibustion , massage, and acupoint herbal patching. In this article, we will review the use of Tian-jiu, moxibustion, oinment, and chinese herb fumigation. These treatment modalities are widely used in Taiwan. Contact dermatitis, Burns, Erythema ab igne are commonly observed during external therapy. In this article, we will review current approaches and managements from the perspective of both chinese and western medicine to these adverse drug reactions. We hope the preventive measures and appropriate procedures can reduce the incidence of drug adverse reaction in clinical. |
