This research purpose was to explore the practical experience of the child’s right to be heard in a group home. The data was collected by seven group home caregivers using focus groups. The study examined five elements of the right to be heard: voice, space, audience, influence and participation. Suggestions are made for future practice, including: (1) the practice of the right to be heard should begin in daily life; (2) develop different strategies based on children’s development and abilities; (3) flexibility, listing, and stand by the children; (4) use multiple methods to enhance children’s participation; (5) self-awareness, and children are able to handle matters related to themselves is to be believed. |
