The purpose of this study was to investigate the difficulties and prospects of the preschool teacher leadership in Taiwan. And the method of literature review was used to analyze the basic concept, development process, and the research of teacher leadership. Some suggestions are made for the interested researchers. The finding of the study indicates the difficulties and prospects of the preschool teacher leadership in Taiwan from academic research(definitions, scope, methodology) and the current status of preschool(social impression, organizational structure, teachers' role). Director's leadership style and administrative support job are beneficial factors of promoting teacher leadership at preschools. Besides, emphasizing on communication and concern, using participative leadership, attaching importance to the curriculums and instructions, and encouraging the professional development of teachers are to lay the foundations of the preschool teacher leadership in Taiwan. Therefore, below are the proposals made by this study to develop preschool teacher leadership: 1. To hold more training courses about teacher leadership; 2. The director should have the determination of decentralization; 3. To build preschool teachers' confidence in leading outside of classroom. |
