Taichung Veterans General Hospital has had an intelligent parking lot system and a carbon reduction system for years. It aims to improve the quality of patient parking by implementing technology integration such as mobile apps and inquiry machines as well as through policies promoting the concept of carbon reduction among the public and employees. The hospital implemented an eTag RFID antenna, and high-speed license plate recognition system at the same level as the ETC was installed at the exit of the parking lot. The recognition rate attained 99.98%. The average recognition time for each vehicle was 0.3 seconds, representing a 77% decrease and reducing total public waiting time by 6.14 hours/day. Vehicles now idle waiting to enter and exit the hospital for 2,241.1 hours/year, resulting in a total reduction in annual carbon emissions to 7,605 tons, a 50% reduction. In conclusion, the intelligent parking lot system and the carbon reduction system improved the service satisfaction of both patients and visitors and provided advantages to both them and the hospital. |
