he purpose of this study was to investigate the comprehension of caregivers of pediatric patients regarding child-friendly facilities and services. A literature review was performed to collect information about the establishment of child playrooms in medical centers in Taiwan. Seven domestic medical centers were randomly chosen, and telephone interviews were conducted with a focus on analyzing“space, hardware, and software,”“service model,”and“infection control”within the child playroom facilities. A questionnaire survey was then conducted among the caregivers of pediatric patients at Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. The questionnaire was designed by referring to the results of telephone interviews, and the aim of the questionnaire was to determine respondents' comprehension and expectations regarding child-friendly facilities and services. The results are summarized as follows: 1.The establishment of child-friendly facilities resulted in optimism in both pediatric patients and their caregivers. 2.Caregivers prefer college student volunteers rather than social volunteers to accompany their children. 3.The opening hours of child-friendly facilities should be extended to improve the stability of the volunteer roaster. 4.Infection control measures should be thoroughly implemented because caregivers valued a clean environment and security in the child-friendly facilities. 5.The design of playrooms in the child-friendly facilities should be age appropriate. 6.Operators should arrange regular training courses for volunteers so that they can offer diverse services. |
