According to statistics from the Taiwan Transportation Tourism Bureau, 10 to 15% of Taiwanese who travel abroad go to Japan. 90% of these travel for the purpose of tourism. Most courses which cover a basic knowledge of Japanese culture are geography courses. Therefore, this research explores Japanese studies related departments in Taiwanese universities from the perspective of Japanese education, and summarizes the current situation and issues of Japan geography courses. At the same time, a concurrent goal of this research is to design courses that better addresses the demands of Japanese studies students. This research investigates the current status of Geography courses in the Japanese Ministry of Education. Through curriculum design and surveying learner needs, the following three outcomes were concluded. (1)The research confirms the current status and issues of Japan geography courses in Taiwan and Japan relations department and learner needs. This can be used for future curriculum design and reference. (2)Through this research, the charm and fun of the Japan geography courses could be revealed to students and increase their interest and awareness of Japanese geography studies. In addition, it will meet the expectations and demand for Japan geography students. (3)Through creative and practical syllabus design, it provides a chance for curriculum designer to rethink and reposition Japanese education and Japanese culture education. |
