Many learners of Japanese encounter various difficulties in mastering pronunciation due to the limits of time and location. Therefore, it is necessary to provide a solution that can assist learners to be aware of their own problems and correct these problems by themselves. Here, audio visualization technology is regarded as a promising solution to the problems above.A pronunciation learning support system is developed that can preserve learners' practice records and allow learners to compare their own records with feedbacks from teacher based on audio visualization technology. Furthermore, learners can correct mistakes of their records on their own through repeated practices. With the help of audio visualization, teacher's feedbacks as well as repeated practices, it is expected to reinforce learner's awareness of specific Japanese pronunciations and improves the quality of oral outputs as a result. From the results of surveys and learners' records, it shows that the proposed system can not only reduce learners' pronunciation problems but also enhance their motivation. |
