Studies of word order in Japanese adjective phrases have long been centered on the case relationship. In particular, Miyajima (1962), Saeki (1975, 1976), Okutsu (1980) and Kitahara (1981) attracted great attention. Word orders in “nominal modification'' and “non-nominal modification'', however, have not been equally studied. Therefore, the author (Chern, 2010) investigated the issue of word order in adjective phrases and successfully classified the multiple nominal modifications into thirteen types. The above-mentioned papers, nonetheless, are limited in analyzing the nominal modification of the adjective “te''. Therefore, this paper aims to examine the word order in “Adj くて Adj “ phrases in “CD-ROM version of the New Tide Database 100'' and to summarize the hidden regularity in them. |
