Vehicle operating cost(VOC) is an important evaluating factor in the economic appraisal of transportation infrastructure projects. The components of VOC have been modified due to drastic technological advancements in vehicles in recent years. There has also been a breakthrough in the survey and data collection methods of VOC. This paper reviews the survey and data collection methods previously conducted in Taiwan and that of the United States of America, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, and Japan, to compare and contrast. The outcome of the review points out the issues in calculating VOC and suggests alternatives for future research and survey methods of VOC. |
