Advance care planning is the process of discussing and documenting one's preference about future medical decisions, physical care, attorney, guardianship and living wills. Physicians are familiar with advance decisions, but they lack awareness of legal issues. Lawyers are familiar with laws, but are unfamiliar with the patient autonomy. In order to overcome existing obstacles, this article proposes the reconstruction of cross-professional learning and executing experience, making lawyers a regular member of the medical care system, and promoting the certification and practice guidelines of geriatric law. It is suggested more research evidence to respond to this aging society and facilitate the legal reform. |
