This research is to study geminate or non-geminate words spoken by Taiwanese Japanese Learners for clarifying pronunciation errors according to native speaker's perceptual experiment. To understand what types of pronunciation error the learner makes affect the pronunciation evaluation, 20 words spoken by each 40 Taiwanese beginner learner were evaluated. The results could be summarized in the following three points: (1) In geminate word, geminate- dropping had a decisive influence on the evaluation. Also, mora duration of the final vowel, error in voiceless plosive consonant, and mistaken pronunciation affected the evaluation. (2) In non-geminate word, 146 out of 400 words had error of geminateinserting which showed that error of geminate- inserting affected the evaluation. (3) Compared to error in voiceless plosive consonant, the mora duration had a more significant influence in native speakers' evaluation. |
