This thesis has token up the newspaper that represented the publishing press from an aspect of teaching material theory in Japanese-language education in the sample for the working hypothesis presentation about the function of the visual element of the media texts. And, this thesis has based on the data of 295 article and 461 visual elements of 'Asahi Shimbun', and has tried to do the frame making of the analysis.As a result of tile analysis, the visual element on the newspaper is divided into seven kinds according to its form. The first function is an emphasis that pulls reader's concern. The second function is commending to praise the report object. The third function is an explanation that plainly passes on the con tent of the report. These functions correspond to pathos, ethos, and logos of traditional rhetoric. In this analysis, the visual element is mainly used for pathos.It is important to make a teaching material after the characteristic of the media texts is understood well in Japanese-language education. |
