This study discusses the variable relationship among harmonious passion, obsessive passion, and flow experience and examines the moderating role of perceived risk among the variables. The targets of this study were mountaineering participants. Partial least squares (PLS) structural equation modeling was applied to analyze the collected data from 584 valid questionnaires. The results showed that the harmonious or obsessive passion of mountaineering participants had a positive influence on flow experience, flow, and peak experience. The perceived risk of the mountaineering participants had a moderating effect on the harmonious and obsessive passion toward the flow structure of flow experience. The findings suggest that recreation participants should identify their passion tendency using the scale in the study, choose fit recreation activities to experience recreation activities positively, and build leisure circles to increase their activity knowledge and skills. The government and private industries should plan various outdoor recreation environments to provide participants with more abundant recreation experiences. |
