Purpose: To determine the relationship of quality control circle implementation withknowledge creation and its effect on the hospital performance, based on not only knowledgemanagementstorage and integration, sharing and usage, and attitudes but also top managementsupport, employee training, customer focus, and perceived value.Method: Members of a medical and nursing practitioners’ panel at a medical institutionin Central Taiwan were surveyed. Four hundred questionnaires were issued, and 231 effectivequestionnaires were collected (effective return rate: 57.75%). Data analysis was performed using astructural equation model.Result: Knowledge-management storage and integration and sharing and usage as well astop management support, employee training, and perceived value of quality control circles hadsignificantly positive effects on hospital performance. However, no such effect was evident forcustomer focus and the knowledge management attitudes.Conclusions: The results of this study can assist hospitals in promoting and conductingresearch on the practices of quality control circles and the knowledge creation process in thefuture. |
