The economic cultivation of asparagus in Taiwan differs from traditional practice due to geographic and climatic factors. The vegetative parts of the asparagus are not removed for seasonal dormancy; during this stage, no new growth occurs though photosynthesis continues. There is a need to access the anatomy and physiology of asparagus under this cultivation practice. This investigation reports the structural anatomy in different parts of asparagus, including the primary root, storage root, absorptive root, underground stem, bud scale, vegetative shoot, immature shoot tip, leaf, cladophyll, flower, fruit and seed respectively The general anatomy of each stated structures is herewith discussed. |
