數種商業栽培品種香蕉之櫥架壽命比較

Comparison of Shelf Life Span on Several Commercial Cultivars of Banana

本研究將數種較重要之香蕉經濟栽培品種之櫥架壽命做一比較。供試品種有在分類上屬'Gros Michel'類之'Cocos'及屬Cavendish subgroup之'Williams Hybrid', 'Leka', 'Robusta', 'Veimama, 'Valery', 'Grande naine', 北蕉及仙人蕉等。其中北蕉與仙人蕉為本省目前栽培之品種，其餘均由國外新引進。各品種栽植於同一蕉園並接受相同管理。經比較二年間採收香蕉之櫥架壽命長短，結果顯示，'Cocos'香蕉立櫥架壽命顯著較Cavendish subgroup之香蕉為長； 而Cavendish subgroup之各品種間則無顯著差異。據報告，臺蕉較中南美及菲律賓香蕉立櫥架壽命為短，顯然並非品種差異使然。

In this study, the shelf life of most commercially important cultivars of banana in the world including 'Williams Hybrid', 'Leka', 'Robusta', 'Veimama', 'Valery', 'Grande naine', 'Cocos', 'Pei-Chiao' and 'Hsien Jen-Chiao' were investigated. These cultivars were grown on the same plantation under the same cultural practices. The data collected in two consecutive years revealed that the shelf life span of 'Cocos', a cultivar which belongs to 'Gros Michel' group was significantly longer than that of other cultivars belonging to Cavendish subgroup. There were no differences in shelf life span among all cultivars of banana in the Cavendish subgroup. Bananas produced in Taiwan have been reported to have a shorter shelf life than those produced in Central America or in Philippines. Apparently, such variance of shelf life might not be due to the variance of cultivars.
