The spent winter mushroom compost (SWMC) prepared from the mixture of incubated sawdust and rice bran which had been grown winter mushroom in cool room. The objectives of this research were to build up a domestic medium and to recycle the spent winter mushroom compost for the cultivation of horticultural crops. The results show that there were 68-81% of spent winter mushroom compost particles with size smaller than 1.0 mm in diameter in these sawdust-based media. These media hade high container capacities and total porosities and low bulk densities. On chemical properties, levels of pH and EC of these media were suitable for plant growth. There were more soluble P, K, Mg than sawdust, but less Ca than spent winter mushroom compost peatmoss (1:1, v/v). The C/N ratio of spent winter mushroom compost were 23 which level is favorable for plant growth. |
