The viability of onion pollen was affected by temperature. Pollen germination was higher at 24℃ than at 35℃, and higher at 35℃ than at 43℃.The percent if fruit set at 24℃, 35℃ and 43℃ were 60%, 70% and 37% respectively. Temperature also affected the number of seeds perovary. The average number of seeds per ovary in male sterile lines M2399A and P54-306A was 2.65 and 2.53 at 24℃; 3.28 and 3.11 at 35℃ and 1.78 and 1.54 at 43℃, respectively. |
