The main purpose of this study was to testify if the landscape preference of the odd number of Araucaria heterophylla is better than that of the even number of Araucaria heterophylla when dong mass planting design. In addition, this study also discussed the influences of different lens of camera and different viewing distances on observers' visula preferences. It was expected that this study would certify the accuracy of the number of mass planting and provide references for future planting design. The study applied computer-image's technology to construct the experimental landscapes. For the experimental design, the study controlled the spatial arrgangment of trees, light, foreground, background, sky, different alternatives of the tree number in the simulated landscapes, different lens of camera, and different viewing distances in order to measure observers' visual preferences on the simulated landscapes. The study obtained 36 landscape slides by using 3D Studio software, camera. Fuji RD 135, aperture 4, shutter 1/2 second. The 36 landscape slides were rated from 1(extremely dislike) to 10 (extremely like) by undergraduate students majored in horticulture at National Chung-Hsing University. The results showed that visual preference ratings were significantly influenced by the number of trees in the landscape, by the different lens of camera, and by the different viewing distances. |
