Effects of photoperiod on flower formation of the cutting plants of passionfruit cv. Tai-nuug No.l were investigated. Under offseason flowering period (Jan.-Mar.) in Taipei, the light-break treatment which supplied the plants with HPS lamps at 11:00 PM-1:00 AM promoted vegetative growth and flower formation. The control plants grew slowly and had no flower formation. Under on-season flowering period (Apr.-Jun.), the plants of the long-day treatment (supplied with HPS lamps at 6:00 PM -10:00 PM) had earlier flower formation and lower node number to first flower than those of the supplement-light treatment (supplied at 6:00 AM -10:00 AM) and the non-supplement treatment. The effects of the last two treatments on flower formation were not significant. These results demonstrated that passionfruit cv. Tai-nung N0.1 is a long-day plant. |
